In October, a group of visitors from Germany, travelled to Rukararwe for a special two-week visit. Some had been here before, while others experienced Uganda for the first time. The visit combined cultural exchange, community engagement, project visits, and sustainable action – all rooted in the longstanding partnership between Kronshagen and Bushenyi that has developed over decades.

The group was warmly welcomed by the Rukararwe Women’s Group with music and dance, setting a joyful tone from the very first day. Over the course of their stay, the visitors participated in a variety of enriching activities that highlighted both cultural heritage and local development work.

They explored the Rukararwe community and its forest, learning about the conservation and tree-planting efforts that help protect the environment. The group also visited important local institutions including Nyamiko Primary School, Ruyonza Secondary School, and the Rwanshesya Orphanage Home, which are supported by Rukararwe. On Sunday, they joined a church service, deepening cultural connection and shared experience.

An important part was a visit to the Bushenyi Municipality, where the group was invited as honoured partners. The municipality had previously received a solar power installation donated with the support of the Kronshagen–Bushenyi friendship network, which has helped reduce their costs. The group also took part in classic Ugandan tourism, visiting Kibale to see the chimpanzees, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Lake Mburo National Park.

A highlight of the visit came on the final day, when the group planted trees on new land that will be reforested as part of Rukararwe’s environmental efforts. In addition, trees were planted at two partner schools, reflecting Rukararwe’s guiding principle: “Tree planting is life saving.”

This visit reflects the enduring partnership between Kronshagen and Rukararwe/Bushenyi, supported by the Kronshagen – Bushenyi/Ishaka Friendship Association (KroBu). The collaboration promotes cultural exchange, environmental protection, community development, and mutual learning across continents.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us. We look forward to future visits and continued cooperation that strengthens our shared goals for sustainable development and cultural connection.
